Jugglin' in July
July '25 Studio Update
Hey, friends! I appreciate you stoppin’ by and tuning in on the latest from the studio. There are a few updates on projects we’ll dive into as well as some personal thoughts on a few things so let’s get into it!
This Month’s Reflections
July was a packed month full new experiences and progress. I started my ceramics journey, attended Collectedcon ‘25, and started planning additional resources I’ll be providing here on Substack. I’ve also caught up on my reading and can’t wait to share more on the book I just finished.
Work Hard, Clay Harder
I finally pursued my interest in ceramics and enrolled in my first batch of classes at a local pottery studio in Chicago and let’s just say… it’s been a humbling experience. But I love it! The space, the people, the medium of clay, I love it all. After pushing pixels at my day job it’s nice to escape and get my hands dirty in a safe, creative space. I’ve only just begun this journey but I’m excited to see where it takes me!
Collectedcon ‘25
So I was scrolling on IG (like ya do) and noticed a mutual was in town and exhibiting his art at a convention. I immediately bought my ticket that night and the next day I attended my first Collectedcon. The place was flooded with remarkable artists that inspired me with their unique work. Among these artists was @zardapuya, the mutual I mentioned earlier. It was truly a privilege meeting such a skilled and kind artist. We chatted at length about projects, our process, software, etc. and even tossed around the idea of a collaboration project 👀 I also met a long-time art hero of mine, @faunwood, which was an incredible surprise.
What I’m reading
Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton
In this memoir, the author recounts the life-changing event of befriending a wild hare. Dalton shares in detail the joy, sorrow, and learnings of such an incredible moment in her life which helps encourage the reader to rethink their own relationship with nature. As someone with a particular affinity towards rabbits, I especially appreciated the research Dalton shares on the science, history, and folklore of hares.
That’s all, folks!
