May '25 Studio Update
Hello new subscribers! Thanks for stoppin’ by tuning in to the latest adventures of my tiny studio. We’ve got news to share on projects, goals, and exciting new updates so let’s get into it!
Last Month’s Reflections
I can’t believe it’s already May… I know I’ve accomplished a lot within the past 4 months but I can’t help but feel like despite my progress I’m still running behind. I suppose that’s common; particularly for creatives. Especially when you have so many ideas but realize you don’t have enough time to get them all done. I suppose that’s where the concept of atomic habits comes in clutch. Trust the process and focus on smaller wins knowing they’ll eventually compound into large achievements.
New Projects
May is shapping up to be a crazy busy month. So far I’ve got a concert, birthday parties, get-togethers, and family events in the cue. I’m currently working on Cowboy Carter designs, illustrations for a children’s book, graphics for a new collab project, and a mini zine concept with a Nuzlocke theme.
Yippee Ki-Yay!
As I fully embrace my unexpected country era (thanks to the Cowboy Carter album) I’m investing a great deal of time and energy into my fit for the concert. I created an embroidered patch design to put on a hat and the concept turned out well! Unfortunately, the results from the embroidery shop in the mall did not… I was so bummed. Not only had I invested so much time into designing the patch, I also paid a freelancer to digitize the design and convert it to a DST file. I regret not taking a picture of the botched result from the shop but perhaps that was for the best. That said, I need to pivot so Plan B is in the works. It won’t be embroidered but at least I’ll still be able to use the original design.
Children’s Book Illustrations
I don’t exactly advertise my freelance services publicly but every now and then I’ll get a referral from someone. I’ve recently accepted a project for a children’s book and I’m super excited to get started on it. It’s a sweet and short story following the adventures of two dogs. There were considerations of publishing too and if that ends up being the case I’ll be looking forward to sharing it.
Clash of the Creatives
I’m always open to collaboration opportunities with fellow artists so when a good friend reached out regarding a creative project my answer was obvious. He’s starting up a Substack account for it so once we’ve fleshed out the initial creative and it’s in a good place I’ll be sure to share our work.
Nuzlocke, who’s there?
The Nuzlocke challenge. The ultimate enhancement to pokémon gameplays. It’s a great way to spice up a playthrough and I thought it might be fun to build a mini zine template to help document the process. I have a few being tested atm so more to come on that!
That’s all, folks!
